Book review: Death Cult Inferno by Janelle Schiecke

What a treat Death Cult Inferno is. When you’re immediately dropped into the hot Nevada desert and the year is 1978, and the story is called Death Cult Inferno then you can already feel that Texas Chainsaw, Hills Have Eyes tone that is so evocative and dread-inducing. This companion story to Death Cult follows Frank, a PI who’s quest for revenge leads him into the dark belly of the cult’s lair. Janelle Scheicke’s prose is a solid as ever, and at times transcendental, and she should be applauded for cramming so many gruesome kills into this short tale. Read this, and read the original Death Cult. I don’t think it matters which order you devour them, just make sure you do.
