The tower click-click-clicked a one-quarter turn and then shone its lights, this time to different squares. Obviously, the square would be different because the tower had turned, but each light must have also moved on some small pivot within its tiny housing. Time would tell how random all of that would turn out to be. The instructions did say that there was some strategy here. Mark and Sean were both lucky enough not to be hit this time.
